More than 10,000 Items Collected for Frisco Family Services Food Pantry;
Lone Star High School Claims Second Straight Team Title
FRISCO, Texas – The Keeper of The Game Foundation and Pastime Training Center’s Strike Out Hunger Food Drive benefiting Frisco Family Services Food Pantry is in its ninth year. The Frisco ISD softball teams – working together for the second consecutive October – collected 10,543 items to ensure their local community has a happy Thanksgiving.
Items included a variety of food, beverages and household products. All in all, the items totaled 9,473 pounds. When dropping off donations from Oct. 18-22, teams stuck around to help stock items on the shelves.
“I am so impressed by the hearts of the Frisco ISD’s softball programs,” Keeper of The Game Executive Director Bryan Hoctor said. “Surpassing 10,000 items is an amazing result for the second year of the softball drive.”
Added Frisco Family Services Market manager William Lunz: “Thank you so much to all the Frisco ISD softball teams for their efforts. The donations made an immediate impact on the local community and will continue to do so through the holiday season.”
Lone Star High School took home the friendly team title for the second straight year, setting an individual drop-off record – softball or baseball – of 4,309 items. They also earned another breakfast party courtesy of Keeper of The Game.
“I am extremely thankful and proud of this team’s leadership and stewardship in helping support Keeper of The Game and Frisco Family Services,” Lone Star High School Softball Head Coach Tom Thuman said. “Our girls have a heart for making a difference in their community.”
Centennial High School was the runner-up, totaling 2,589 items. Frisco High School (781), Wakeland High School (524) and Lebanon Trail High School (403) rounded out the top 5.
The Frisco ISD baseball teams are set for their competition Dec. 6-11.
