Keeper of The Game has several annual events to raise funds and awareness:
RP11 Program
The RP11 program was established in the Spring of 2020 to honor the legacy of Keeper of The Game charter member Ron Patterson, who was passionate about serving those with special needs and disabilities through baseball. The inaugural RP11 event was held Nov. 21, 2020 at Southfork Sports Complex in Parker, Texas, and featured a skills clinic and an appearance by Texas Rangers catcher Jose Trevino.
Doubleheader Clinic with Catching 24-7
The first Doubleheader Clinic with Catching 24-7 was held June 26 at D-BAT Frisco. The event includes a free special needs clinic and a catching clinic led by Stephen F. Austin State Head Coach Johnny Cardenas and Weatherford College Assistant Coach Carlos Ramirez. Catching 24-7 donates all the catching clinic proceeds to Keeper of The Game.
Game Ball Program
Keeper of The Game is reaching out to programs that provide opportunities to kids with special needs or disabilities to play baseball and softball. With the Game Ball Program we are providing game balls to Miracle League DFW (Texas), Miracle League Frisco (Texas), The Allen Angel League (Texas), East Texas Challenger League, Bambino Buddy Ball League (Surprise, Ariz.) and Miracle League at Town and Country (Austin, Texas).
Strike Out Hunger Food Drive to benefit Frisco Family Services Food Pantry
Our fall food drive to benefit the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry is in its seventh year. Thank you to Jason Jennings and Pastime Training Center for hosting the drive. Also, thank you to the Dallas Tigers families for their generous donations and the Frisco ISD baseball and softball teams for their donations and their help loading all donations for Frisco Family Services.
Teddy Bears and Blankets Drive to benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Smith County
The Teddy Bears and Blankets Drive is held in conjunction with Coach Vilade’s hitting camps at D-BAT. Thank you to Texas high school and college coaches, along with camp participants who donated blankets and stuffed animals. Thank you to the participants and the UT Tyler Softball program for donations. More than 350 bears and blankets have been collected for the Child Advocacy Center of Smith County.
The D-BAT Showdown Equipment Drive
D-BAT Frisco vs D-BAT Fort Worth see who can collect the most new and gently used gloves and baseball equipment for the Miracle League DFW and Frisco Miracle League. Teams donate their gear at either D-BAT.
Middle School Match Up – Keeper of The Game Sportsmanship Award Ceremony
The Keeper of The Game Middle School Match Up Sportsmanship Awards are presented annually at a Frisco RoughRiders game. Coaches of Middle School Match Up teams nominated players and we chose one winner for 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
Special Education – “Out to The Ballgame” Days
Keeper of The Game hosts special education outings from three different area high schools at three weekday games in April and May at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. Our foundation, along with help from Diamond Dreams and the Frisco RoughRiders, make it a special day for these wonderful kids.
Kids in Motion
Keeper of The Game has donated wheelchairs to The Miracle League of Frisco, as well as strollers to young athletes in need.
