Keeper of The Game donates new wheelchairs to The Miracle League of Frisco

FRISCO, Texas – The Keeper of The Game Foundation (KoTG) is pleased to announce the donation of three brand new, Invacare Tracer SX5 wheelchairs to The Miracle League of Frisco.

KoTG Founder James Vilade and Board Member Bryan Hoctor presented the wheelchairs to The Miracle League of Frisco President Cacy Saffery on April 8 at the Frisco RoughRiders’ front office. Adding to the excitement was when RoughRiders Hitting Coach Jason Hart and players Royce Bolinger, Pat Cantwell, Jared Eickhoff, Joey Gallo, Drew Robinson, Jake Skole and J.T. Wise joined in for the presentation.

“This is a very exciting day for our foundation and our desire to assist kids who participate in The Miracle League of Frisco,” Vilade said. “As a member of the Frisco RoughRiders coaching staff, the day became even more special when the players stepped up to help us present our gift. RoughRiders CEO Chuck Greenberg, President Scott Sonju and Executive Vice President and General Manager Jason Dambach have a commitment to the community just like us. We love our city and this was a shining example of what happens when organizations who love to share the game of baseball get together to help others.”

Dambach stopped by after the presentation to meet Saffery and wished him and his league the best of luck as it gets ready for the Spring season to begin on April 25 at Harold Bacchus Community Park.

Saffery plans on the wheelchairs – which feature up to a 22-inch seat width, dual axle positions, swing-away foot rests and 24-inch rear wheels – getting plenty of use right away during practices in preparation for Opening Day.

“We are thankful for the Keeper of The Game Foundation,” Saffery said. “Their passion for helping kids with special needs and disabilities in the game of baseball is amazing. This donation is a true blessing for our athletes.”

The gift was made possible because of KoTG’s outstanding corporate sponsors, community partners and founding donors. Specifically, the fundraising efforts of Billy Viars and the 7U Dallas Patriots select baseball team were instrumental in this donation. The Patriots’ “2015 Keeper of The Game Hit-a-Thon” raised more than $4,200.

KoTG was founded by Vilade – who is in his sixth season with the RoughRiders and also scouts for the Texas Rangers – on Oct. 16, 2014. KoTG’s mission is to provide athletes with disabilities and special needs unique baseball experiences that foster the growth of those individuals and their love of baseball. The foundation promotes programs which allow these athletes to play, watch and experience baseball at a very personal level. This is all done with a focus on advancing servant leadership.
