Keeper of The Game, Pastime Training Center team together for record-setting Strike Out Hunger Food Drive

FRISCO, Texas – The Keeper of The Game Foundation and Pastime Training Center teamed together for the third straight year for the Strike Out Hunger Food Drive to benefit the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry. This year’s event resulted in a record-setting 863 pounds of non-perishable food items donated.
The donations will help provide approximately 450 meals for less fortunate individuals and families in the Frisco community over the holiday season. In three years, the drive has resulted in more than 2,000 pounds of food collected. The totals have increased each year.
“The donations will go a long way in helping families in need during the holidays,” Frisco Family Services Special Events Manager Karissa Mead said. “Thanks to Keeper of The Game and Pastime Training Center for putting the ‘Strike Out Hunger Food Drive’ together again. It is such a fun way to get baseball teams and fans involved in helping the community.”
An addition to this year’s event was the participation by all Frisco ISD baseball teams. They were challenged to see who could donate the most items and had representatives at Pastime Training Center – the primary drop-off location – on pick-up day to help load the Frisco Family Services truck. Heritage High School, coached by Chad Longacre, took home the inaugural trophy and won a pizza party from Keeper of The Game supporter Durkin’s Pizza.
“It was exciting to learn that the Strike Out Hunger Drive netted nearly half a ton of donations,” Keeper of The Game Executive Director Bryan Hoctor said. “Congratulations to the Heritage High School baseball team for their awesome number of donations, and thank you to all the Frisco ISD baseball teams for their participation. Their efforts definitely raised the bar for next year.”
The annual four-week food drive, which also includes toiletries, is a tradition Keeper of The Game and Pastime Training Center are proud of.
“We are extremely pleased with another record-setting donation total and would like to thank everyone that contributed,” Pastime Training Center Owner and former Major League Baseball pitcher Jason Jennings said. “Serving those in need in your community – especially during this time of year – is what it is all about.”
